Video Production

7th & 8th Grades

The Video Production elective is designed for 7th and 8th graders. In the 7th grade, students will learn the basic of good video prodcution techniques. In the 8th grade, students will learn more about planning, scripting, shooting, editing, and producing top quality videos. The students will use school supplied video cameras and pre-loaded software on the school computers to upload and edit their videos..
 
Students in the 7th grade will learn the following topics in the video production process:
  • Basic Camera Operation
  • Use of the Tripod
  • Scripting
  • Storyboarding
  • Shooting for Editing
  • Sharing the Camera
  • Uploading Video
  • Editing the Video
Students in the 8th grade will learn the following advanced topics in the video production process:
  • Scripting - more detail
  • Storyboarding - more detail
  • Forming a Production Team
  • Working with a Client
  • Shooting with Special Effects (Chroma Key)
  • Uploading Video
  • Editing the Video
  • Producing the Video for Distribution
Students will use Microsift Moviemaker to edit, manage and produce Videos.
 
Students will work on several projects to monitor their understanding and progress of the above topics. Most projects will be done at school during our scheduled class period. On occasion parts of projects may be assigned as homework.
